Otto's Family

Adopted Sister - Alice

A new friend for Otto, Alice is his new adopted sister.

Look at those beautiful eyes!

After years of being the only dog in the house, Otto finally approved the addition of a new family member. We spent a long time looking for the right friend for him, and finally decided to adopt Alice.

Alice was a breeding dog for a back yard breeder, so she had a bit of a hard start in life. After years of doing nothing but producing litters in a shed, her "owner" got rid of her to replace her with a more fertile dog. She ended up in a great foster home for a few months, where she was acclimated to living with people and other dogs inside a house. We brought her home with us on May 17th, 2009.

Alice is a very quiet and relaxed basset. She never barks or howls or gets excited, she just walks around following people and wanting to snuggle. She's an equal-opportunity snuggler, she'll happily lay down with people or other dogs. She is, by far, the most laid-back basset we've ever seen. She manages to make Otto look excitable (which he definitely is not). Apart from a few potential housetraining issues, Alice is fitting perfectly into our family.
